Compress PDF to 500KB

RUNS ON THIS DEVICE

Compress a CV or scanned contract to under 500 KB directly in your browser; the file stays on your own hardware from drop to download.

Made for CVs and job portals

Applicant tracking systems — Workday, Greenhouse, Taleo and the rest — commonly restrict each upload to somewhere between 500 KB and 2 MB, and aiming below half a megabyte clears nearly all of them. Resumes built in design tools or exported by phone scanner apps often weigh several megabytes because every page is stored as a large image, which is precisely the kind of weight this compressor removes.

How much fits under half a megabyte

With each page re-encoded to roughly 50–100 KB, a five- to ten-page scanned contract generally comes in below the limit with signatures and stamps still recognizable. Target mode reruns the compression at stepped-down resolution and quality until the file is smaller than 500 KB, and it stops under the figure rather than at it so a borderline byte count cannot trip a validator. If even the gentlest pass cannot reach the goal at readable quality, you get the closest smaller file along with a notice that says so plainly — and if a small file would come out bigger, the original is handed back unchanged.

Processed on your machine, delivered clean

The compressor works by redrawing every page with the browser's own PDF rendering technology, converting each one to an optimized JPEG, and assembling a new document — all inside a Web Worker running locally, so a signed contract is never transmitted anywhere. One consequence worth knowing before you upload: the rebuilt pages are images, so recipients cannot copy text out of the compressed file; keep the editable original for anything beyond the upload itself. Locked PDFs need unlocking first, and the tool says so directly. There is no page limit beyond your browser's memory, no daily quota, and nothing stamped on the download.

Frequently asked questions

Does a signed contract get uploaded during compression?

No — the whole job runs in your browser's memory on your own hardware, so agreements and personal paperwork stay with you throughout.

Will the text in my compressed CV still be selectable?

No, the rebuilt pages are images. If a job portal parses resumes for keywords, submit a digitally created PDF that already fits the limit, and save this compressor for scanned documents, where nothing is lost.

How many scanned pages fit under 500 KB?

Roughly five to ten at readable quality, so most multi-page contracts and agreements make it with signatures intact.

Are there page limits or daily caps?

No daily caps, and no fixed page limit — only your browser's memory bounds very large files. Password-protected PDFs are the one hard stop; unlock them first.
